Fire Sprinkler Incentives
2018 Tax Reform Information

What is it and Why does it matter to your Business?

In December, Congress passed the most sweeping tax reform legislation since 1986. Included were two provisions that will greatly incentivize the installation of fire sprinklers.

Cost Recover Section 13201—under the new law, any sprinkler system installed after 9/27/2017 in a commercial structure will be able to be fully expensed. As property owner, you will be able to immediately write off the full cost of the sprinkler system.

Small Business Section 179 Expensing—previously, small businesses were able to fully expense purchases such as computers, equipment, and light duty vehicles up to an annual of $500,000. Now Congress has added fire protection and an eligible expense and raised the cap to $1 Million. This is a great opportunity for critical entertainment venues to be retrofitted.

Fire Sprinklers save lives, property, water, money, and the environment. Keep your patrons safe, keep your business running, and limit your liability!
