Greensboro Science Center Achieves National
Gold Standards for Cultural Tourism
and Accreditation

GREENSBORO, NC -- The Greensboro Science Center (GSC) is honored to announce that it earned the #1 score in a comprehensive national study focused on growth and success amongst science museums in the United States. The Morey Study (right) analyzed science museums in the largest US 100 markets, comparing five key performance indicators: attendance, market capture, admission price, Google ratings and visitor frequency. The GSC has shown that its unique vision and commitment to diverse experiences and audiences is transforming science-based tourism in North Carolina and beyond.

Glenn Dobrogosz, GSC CEO, explains - “I could not be prouder of what this GSC team (staff and board) and our many volunteers, donors and partners have accomplished in a relatively short amount of time. Our success is a testament to hard work, non-conformity, team innovation and a deep-seated passion for science education and positive community change.”

Dobrogosz continued, “What’s most exciting is that the GSC’s near future is bigger and bolder than ever. With construction on Expedition Rainforest – The Greensboro Biodome and ARCC (Aquatic Rehabilitation and Conservation Center) set to begin in January, Greensboro and Guilford County will be home to a one-of-a-kind, four-in-one destination that further advances the incredibly diverse experiences that we provide for our guests. Becoming a one-stop-shop for life and science is central to our future vision.”

In addition, the GSC is proud to announce that it has once again achieved Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accreditation, making this its fourth consecutive accreditation since 2008. AZA accreditation is granted every five years ensuring that facilities continually uphold and evolve their standards as leading science and conservation-based cultural attractions. Only 10% of the over 2,500 USDA-licensed zoological facilities in the United States meet AZA’s gold standard.

“Congratulations to the Greensboro Science Center for meeting our rigorous standards and achieving Association of Zoos and Aquariums accreditation,” said Dan Ashe, President and Chief Executive Officer at AZA. “Earning accreditation is a mark of excellence and a testament to the Greensboro Science Center’s unwavering commitment to the highest standards of animal care and conservation. Your dedication not only enhances the lives of the animals you care for but also sets a precedent for excellence in the zoological community.”
